Humble Quarry as a SF movie location
Thank you all for your interest in my last post!
We walked to the same location two evenings in a row to get some sunset photos. Twice the weather and the weather app pranked me up, and the sun was hidden behind the thick layer of clouds.
However, I didn’t want to go back with nothing; the girls had a picnic, and it was nice there. When I looked at the sky for a while, I noticed some moments in this windy evening where light is cutting through the clouds, giving them a bit of a grim look and a small range of colours.
Tripod, set the camera to 3-frame bracketing, and go.
I always try to visualise the final photos while taking them. Imagining how I want them to look helps me while shooting and post-editing. Yep, I love post-editing; it’s almost as important and enjoyable to me as the photographing itself. I think it gives photos a personal touch and signature. It’s like making good bread; properly prepared dough is so important, but it needs to be baked properly (overbaking may happen ;-)). By edit, I mean work mainly on colour grade, white balance, contrast, and not adding to a photo that wasn’t there in the first place (until I’m requested or making a joke for friends), only working on what the camera recorded. And have to have music on while editing.
I hope you are enjoying the photo and the slightly long text, and please share your thoughts.
Thank you,
